About Decatur
Decatur exemplifies small town living. In this quaint town, you will find a downtown that will make you think you just stepped into a hallmark movie. Decatur features a one-street downtown but it is equipped with all the shops you would need. You can enjoy nature at one of the five area parks or head over to the lake for fishing. Decatur is a village in Van Buren County with a population of 2,000. With Lake Michigan nearby there are plenty of opportunities for beaches, swimming, nature trails, fishing, picnicking and community festivals. Consumers under the age of 27 have the choice to go through the VanBuren ISD special education program which offers students with disabilities a free and appropriate public education in an environment that is best suited for them. Maple lake is located 10 minutes from the home and is a recreational beach where people can enjoy swimming, there is an island located in the center with a bridge you can walk across to get to the island. If its raining people can visit the Dowagiac Museum which offers three floors of local history, visitors can enjoy this museum at no cost. Decatur is located 15 minutes away from Southwestern Michigan College, making it a great option for college employment.
